Dinner and Wine Auction at NORMAN’S Raises
$105,000 for Women’s Fund of Miami-Dade
On Monday, May 14, South Florida's most sophisticated food
and wine connoisseurs raised $105,000 for Women's Fund of
Miami-Dade while enjoying a four course meal designed by
Chef Norman Van Aken paired with exquisite wines from
Augustan Wine Imports.
The dinner, hosted by Chef Norman Van Aken, Sue and Doug
Gallagher, Kate Callahan and Peter Benjamin and the
Philanthropic Foodies Host Committee, featured some of Chef
Norman Van Aken’s signature dishes such as wild mushroom
soup, pan seared branzino a la veracruzana with herbed
gnocchi with oyster mushrooms and shredded pork belly in a
manchego cheese sauce, New York strip and braised short ribs
with creamy polenta in a rioja reduction, Hawaiian vanilla
bean panna cotta with manzanilla tea and blueberry Greek
yogurt.
The event, which attracted more than 100 guests, also
featured an extensive live and silent auction that included
rare vintage wines, dinner with Australian winemaker David
Powell of Torbeck, luxurious trips to Scotland, Sonoma and
Cape Cod, artwork, jewelry and cooking classes. Proceeds
from the event will be used to fund innovative programs that
address unmet needs of women and girls in Miami-Dade.
Philanthropic Foodies are a group who believe that

Pasquale and Cesar Basurto, Jodi and Bob Dickinson, Swanee
