Reproductive Justice
Women’s Fund, along with seven other funds/foundations
nationwide, is part of a matching grant program that
brings new funding and attention to women of color-led
organizations whose programs address: comprehensive sex
education; the impacts of environmental toxins on
reproductive health; increasing access to quality,
affordable, culturally and linguistically appropriate health
care; regulation of new genetic and reproductive
technologies; and worker/immigrant rights. Women of color,
often most directly impacted by these reproductive
injustices, must be at the center of any effort to transform
the systems that impacts their lives. The Tides Foundation
Catalyst Fund matched 100% of donations received in 2009
in support of this initiative. Women's Fund is
building a strong Reproductive Justice movement in Miami
through funding grantee partners who were selected because
of their demonstrated leadership and advocacy work.

What is
Reproductive Justice?
The Reproductive Justice analysis
offers a framework for empowering women and girls
relevant to every family. Instead of focusing on the
means—a divisive debate on abortion and birth
control that neglects the real-life experiences of
women and girls—the Reproductive Justice analysis
focuses on the ends: better lives for women,
healthier families, and sustainable communities.

Women's Advocacy Project works to raise
awareness about the issues facing women and girls in Miami-Dade
County and to build an organized network that empowers women
economically, reduces violence against women and improves the lives
of immigrant women and girls.
We believe that
advocacy, in partnership with grantmaking, is an essential
strategy for addressing the root causes of gender inequality
and for creating long term systemic change.
