How did you
first learn about Women's Fund of Miami-Dade?
I first
learned about the Women’s Fund when I went to an Annual
Luncheon several years ago as an FPL representative. I was
so inspired. As I heard the women speakers tell their
stories, I felt the journey they had gone through. It was
also touching for me to meet other women like me who want to
reach out and help women. I am involved in a lot of
non-profits, but this one has so much passion. And it’s not
just Women’s Fund’s grant recipients, but the board, staff
and volunteers. The energy among that group is powerful.
It’s contagious.
Why did you
decide to donate to the Women’s Fund of Miami-Dade?
Women’s
Fund’s work is very focused and strategic. I’m very
strategic in my thinking and that’s why I am drawn to the
Women’s Fund.
Why should
others get involved and support WFMD?
I truly
believe that we all have a purpose for being here and we’re
here to serve. I’m grateful for who I am and I decided to
give to the Women’s Fund because I can give back.
I’ve been
with FPL a long time and I’ve gotten a lot of training, a
lot of exposure. When you work for a large company, you
really get exposed to a lot. I encourage companies and
individuals who have not reached out to get involved in the
Women’s Fund and to give their resources. There is truly a
need for the Women’s Fund. At the end of the day, we’re all
in this together and we can’t build this by ourselves
without pulling somebody up with us.
